5 August 2011 #19 a continual bike riders dream even - Paris

Happy Birthday Nephew Noah Klupiec - One Year Old Today!

Food - Ethiopian Food last night with Jeff and Aurelia, friends who live in Paris but originally hail from San Francisco. Very accommodating of them as they are vegetarians and our meat dishes were served up on the same gigantic platter. If you’ve not tried Ethiopian then I suggest you get over to Avenue de Clichy! They also serve up this honey wine which you don’t even know has alcohol in it ... ah sugary goodness.

Weather - if this was a podcast you’d hear the rain hammering down right now. It rained last night but was clear this morning and all the way through till 6pm, just as we got home, thank goodness. Then the heavens opened up! A nice self imposed night in tonight.
Mode of Transport -  Our Dahon folding bikes, we’ve had them for a week and returned them today, they didn’t miss a beat and were the perfect way to get around Paris. I know, I know what about the velibs!? These bikes are from Bike About Tours, located in the car park of the Hotel de Ville in the 1st. Christian, Paul and Dacey are good dudes hooked me up last year and again this year. If you’re in Paris and need a renta-bike for the week then drop down and see them!
Conversation - the drunk guy in the Metro who smelled like rotting fish who was talking to himself, was it French, English ... poor bastard! There really are a lot of homeless people here in Paris, speechless.
Animal - unfortunately I couldn’t get a photo of it but there was a baby beagle in the 2nd today. I have a soft spot for them, the Levy household had one growing up and this puppy was just all too cute!
What else of note: tomorrow renting a car and heading out of the city for the day, where to go, where to go!?
Parting thought of the day/blog: Paris is the most visited city in the world. I knew why but now I really know why, you can be in the same area day after day and still not see it all and find something new. Paris really is an amazing place to spend time ... could I live here, hmm, we’ll see. Off to Macon on Sunday and looking forward to something new and getting back on the bike to get ready for le Haute Route 2011.
